ROBO Warriors [Battle for Glory]

Here is the result of a fruitful co-op with sophomore ASME student members: ROBO Warriors. Now for the uninitiated, this event involves a series of fight-to-death matches among participant robots (remote-controlled). There are two types of Robowars. One consists of a huge arena with all the robots thrown in and the battle doesn't end till a last standing robot is recognized. The other is a series of knockout matches between robots (one-on-one). This leads up to a final match in which the victor is determined. ROBO Warriors will consist of a battle more like the former.

Problem statement:

"Engineer a remote-controlled robot, armed with at least one weapon and
capable of fighting in a multi-opponent arena"

Event Details:

  • To be held on Friday, November 19, 2010

  • Each team may consist of a maximum of 8 members

  • Layout of the arena will be revealed just 24 hours before the actual battle. But the arena will be within the university campus itself

  • Kits for assembly of a basic robot will be provided on request. Students are advised to improvise

  • Top teams (finalists/best designs) will be sponsored by the ASME Student Section to represent the university in ROBOWARS held in ISM Dhanbad (Dec, 2010) and IIT Bombay (Jan, 2011)
